Malaysian Man Files for Divorce Over Wife’s Toothpaste-Squeezing Habits

Date:

Sometimes, the reasons behind divorce cases can be surprisingly trivial. A man recently shared an unusual experience he witnessed while observing proceedings at a Syariah court, revealing that one couple’s dispute centered around something as mundane as how toothpaste was squeezed.

The observer, who was attending the court as part of an academic assignment, recalled that the husband in the case claimed his wife was stubborn and refused to follow his repeated reminders.

When the judge asked for a specific example of her alleged stubbornness, the husband explained that he had repeatedly asked his wife not to squeeze the toothpaste tube from the middle, as it caused the contents to sink downward. Instead, he wanted her to squeeze from the bottom so the toothpaste would move upwards properly. He even noted that he had purchased the toothpaste himself.

Rather than proceeding with the divorce, the judge offered a practical solution: the couple should buy separate toothpaste tubes to avoid conflicts over minor household habits.

The judge reminded them to avoid letting trivial disagreements escalate into major disputes, sending them home with a simple but effective resolution.
