Wedding Lasts 24 Hours Amid Claims Groom Is Actually A Woman

Date:

A wedding in Malang has drawn widespread attention after the marriage reportedly lasted just a single day following allegations of identity deception between the couple.

The case involves a 28-year-old woman, Intan Anggraeni, who claimed she had married an individual known as Yupi Rere or Rey, only to later discover that her spouse was allegedly a woman instead of a man as initially believed.

According to Intan, she felt deceived after realising the true identity of her partner, prompting the marriage — which took place on April 8 — to end within 24 hours once the matter came to light.

Following the incident, both individuals lodged police reports against each other. Intan filed a report alleging identity falsification and the use of forged documents in relation to the marriage.

In return, Rey reportedly lodged a counter-report accusing Intan of defamation and attempted extortion. The case has since escalated into a legal dispute as both sides present conflicting accounts of what transpired.

Rey said she only became aware of the police report after footage of the wedding went viral on social media on the same day. She also claimed she attempted to resolve the matter amicably by visiting Intan’s home, but said her efforts were unsuccessful.

Rey further denied allegations of deception, insisting that Intan had been aware of her identity from the beginning of their relationship. She claimed they met in February at a café in Kota Batu, and that even Intan’s family was aware of her background, adding that their relationship had developed over time before the wedding took place.
