Brendan Fraser Says Upcoming ‘Mummy 4’ Will ‘Give the Fans What They Want’

Date:

Brendan Fraser has confirmed that the highly anticipated fourth installment of The Mummy franchise is finally on the way — and promises it will deliver what fans have been waiting decades to see.

Speaking in an interview with the Associated Press, the 56-year-old Oscar-winning actor said the upcoming sequel will be the version he has been hoping to make for over 20 years.

“The one I wanted to make was never made,” Fraser revealed. “I’m proud of the third one because I think it’s a good standalone movie. We picked up and did what we do with a different crew and gave it our best shot. But the one I wanted to make is forthcoming.”

He added, “I’ve been waiting 20 years for this call. Sometimes it was loud, sometimes just a faint telegraph. Now? It’s time to give the fans what they want.”

Fraser, who portrayed adventurer Rick O’Connell in the original trilogy, recently reunited with former co-stars Patricia Velásquez, John Hannah and Oded Fehr during the 2025 Fan Expo Denver on July 6 — marking 26 years since the franchise began in 1999.

Absent from the reunion photo were Rachel Weisz, who played Evelyn Carnahan, and Arnold Vosloo, who portrayed the iconic Mummy, Imhotep. However, Weisz is reportedly in discussions to reprise her role in the fourth film, according to Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie is expected to be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of Radio Silence, known for Ready or Not, the Scream reboots and Abigail. Plot details and a release date have yet to be announced.

The news comes amid renewed enthusiasm among fans nostalgic for the original action-adventure films.
