Chow Yun Fat Runs 10km In Hong Kong Marathon To ‘God Of Gamblers’ Theme

Date:

On Sunday (Jan 18), Hong Kong screen legend Chow Yun Fat participated in the 10km run at the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon, crossing the finish line to the familiar tune of the iconic God of Gamblers theme song, the film franchise that starred Chow alongside Andy Lau.

The race marked Chow’s fourth appearance at the marathon, and the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon star completed the course in two hours and 23 seconds.

Running alongside Chow were veteran celebrities including actress Nina Paw (76), actor Lau Kong (79), and actor Kent Cheng (74). After the race, Chow joked that their combined ages amounted to “several hundred years.”

Chow said his goal in joining the marathon was “to greet the audience and to finish,” adding that the key was to take things slowly and enjoy the process.

Also taking part in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2026 was Singaporean runner Rachel See, who claimed victory in the women’s half-marathon with a time of 1 hour, 20 minutes, and 56 seconds. The 43-year-old admitted she joined the race at the last minute, having originally come to Hong Kong to support her husband, Poon Zi Li, who ran the full marathon.

Speaking to the South China Morning Post, See described the race as challenging. “I felt the wind was very strong, even though the weather was rather cool… It felt tough being constantly pushed by the wind,” she said.
