Chris Evans, 44, star of The Avengers, and his wife Alba Baptista, 28, have welcomed their first child together, PEOPLE confirms, with TMZ first reporting the news. The couple’s baby arrived on Friday, October 24, in Massachusetts, marking the first child for both Evans and his Portuguese actress wife.
Evans and Baptista, first linked in January 2022, have largely kept their relationship private. A source told PEOPLE that they had been dating “for over a year” as of November 2022. The couple tied the knot in September 2023 in a private ceremony at a Cape Cod estate. Around that time, Evans, PEOPLE’s 2022 Sexiest Man Alive, shared his long-held desire to settle down and start a family, though he hadn’t yet mentioned Baptista by name. “That’s absolutely something I want: wife, kids, building a family,” he said.
A source revealed that Evans “got serious very quickly” after meeting Baptista in Europe. “He kept saying he knew she was the one,” the insider added, noting that Evans had been ready to settle down and was just waiting for the right person.
Speaking at the premiere of Red One in November 2024, Evans was asked if he hopes to be a “superhero” dad one day, like his co-star Dwayne Johnson’s character. “Yeah, I hope so. Yeah, absolutely,” Evans said. “The title of dad is an exciting one.”
The couple’s joyful announcement marks the start of a new chapter for the Hollywood star, who has long emphasized that, for him, the most meaningful achievements in life are the love and family he builds.
