Fan Rips Out Lenny Kravitz’s Dreadlocks During Live Performance in Brisbane

Date:

Singer Lenny Kravitz has revealed that a female fan forcibly pulled out four of his signature dreadlocks during his Australian tour performance.

According to AsiaOne, the incident took place last Friday at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, during the Blue Electric Light Tour. The 61-year-old rock icon had stepped into the crowd to perform his 1989 hit “Let Love Rule” when an overexcited audience member yanked the locks from the back of his head.

In an Instagram Stories clip posted on Saturday, Kravitz recounted the moment:

“Brisbane, that was wild. A very excited young lady pulled four dreadlocks out of the back of my head. You know how hard you’ve got to pull to rip those out?”

Despite the painful encounter, the four-time Grammy winner said it would not stop him from engaging with fans during the song:

“I’m not going to stop coming out there for ‘Let Love Rule’ because that’s our moment together. Brisbane, you’re wild. I love you.”

Concertgoers were stunned, with one fan describing the act as “completely diabolical.”

Kravitz has also performed in New Zealand, saying it was a joy to return to the region after many years.

“Coming to New Zealand for the first time and returning to Australia after so many years is giving my soul the most beautiful energy. You all are amazing. Thank you for sharing this with me. Let’s keep going!”
