Girls’ Generation members Hyoyeon, Yuri and Sooyoung are officially set to debut as a new subunit called HyoRiSoo, with SM Entertainment confirming that the trio will release their first single in the third quarter of 2026.
The name HyoRiSoo combines one syllable from each member’s name, following the naming tradition of Girls’ Generation’s popular subunit TaeTiSeo.
The project first began earlier this year on Hyoyeon’s variety show “Hyoyeon’s Level Up”, where viewers followed the three members as they formed the unit and prepared for their debut.
Throughout the programme, the trio showcased their playful chemistry while taking part in activities such as choosing the group’s centre, holding auditions for the main vocalist and building their official debut team.
Hyoyeon was eventually selected as the group’s main vocalist through a vote among the members.
The three singers have also met with the production team of MBC’s “Show! Music Core”, signalling that preparations for their official debut are well underway.
Earlier this year, the trio appeared together on tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block”, where Hyoyeon revealed that the project initially started as a fun idea.
She admitted she never expected the unit to gain so much attention and jokingly said she wanted to take on Taeyeon’s role from TaeTiSeo.
The members’ candid personalities and behind-the-scenes look at the group’s formation have generated strong interest among fans, who are eager to see what musical style and concept the trio will introduce.
With SM Entertainment now officially confirming the debut, anticipation is continuing to build ahead of HyoRiSoo’s first single, which is expected to be released later this year.
