Gwyneth Paltrow Undergoes £36,500 Blood Detox to Remove Toxins

Date:

Gwyneth Paltrow, 53, has revealed she underwent a high-cost detox procedure to remove toxins from her body, including microplastics and mould. The Goop founder and actress tried a treatment called therapeutic plasma exchange at a Chicago clinic, completing five sessions that reportedly cost up to £36,500. The procedure involves filtering blood to remove toxin-carrying plasma before pumping fresh plasma back into the body.

Claims Health Benefits Amid Skepticism
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Paltrow said she turned to the treatment after struggling with chronic fatigue, brain fog, and other ambiguous health issues. “I felt amazing after. I felt this immediate unburdening and clarity and lightness,” she stated, praising the procedure for boosting her overall wellbeing.

Goop and the Wellness Controversy
Known for promoting unconventional health trends, Paltrow has a history of experimenting with cleanses and alternative therapies. She has previously tried bee venom therapy, coffee enemas, rectal ozone therapy, and even an eight-day goat milk cleanse to remove parasites. Last year, she claimed on a podcast that her genetic makeup slows her body’s natural detoxification processes.

Medical Experts Warn Against Extreme Cleanses
Her latest treatment, like many wellness trends endorsed by Goop, has drawn criticism from medical professionals. Canadian gynaecologist Dr. Jen Gunter described Paltrow’s detox claims as “stupid and dangerous,” highlighting concerns about the safety and scientific basis of such extreme procedures.

Ongoing Debate Over Celebrity Wellness Practices
Despite criticism, Paltrow continues to promote detoxes and wellness programs through Goop. In 2023, she faced backlash for promoting a $195 seven-day ‘reset kit,’ which included a restrictive meal plan, further fuelling the debate over celebrity influence on health and safety.
