‘I’m Standing Up For Myself’: Brooklyn Beckham Opens Up About Fallout With Victoria And David

Date:

Brooklyn Peltz Beckham has publicly criticised his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, in a bombshell statement, speaking out about his estrangement for the first time. The 26-year-old aspiring chef, who married actress Nicola Peltz Beckham, 31, in 2022, has reportedly been at odds with his family since the wedding.

On Monday (Jan 19), Brooklyn shared a lengthy statement across six posts on his Instagram Stories. In the first post, he made it clear that he does not wish to reconcile with his parents.

“I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about some of the lies that have been printed,” he wrote. “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled—I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”

Brooklyn accused his parents of controlling the family narrative and maintaining a façade through performative social media posts and staged events. “Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths they’ll go to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own image. But I believe the truth always comes out,” he added.

In subsequent posts, he claimed his parents tried to sabotage his relationship with Nicola. Brooklyn alleged that Victoria cancelled making Nicola’s wedding dress at the last minute, forcing the bride to find a replacement. He also said his parents pressured him to sign over rights to his name before the wedding, which would have affected him, his wife, and their future children.

“The night before our wedding, members of my family told me that Nicola was ‘not blood’ and ‘not family,’” he said. He also accused his mother of hijacking his first dance with Nicola at their wedding, replacing it with a public dance that left him “uncomfortable and humiliated” in front of 500 guests.

Brooklyn claimed that Nicola has been “consistently disrespected” by his family, adding that they have prioritised public appearances and endorsements over personal relationships. He said that even when he tried to support family causes, such as helping displaced dogs during the LA fires, Victoria refused to get involved.

In his final post, Brooklyn stressed that he and Nicola simply want “peace, privacy, and happiness” for themselves and their future family. He denied claims that his wife controls him, stating, “I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life. I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared. I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose and have found peace and relief.”

Brooklyn concluded, “My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want is peace, privacy, and happiness for us and our future family.”
