“It’s Time!” Mariah Carey Kicks Off Christmas Season With New Video And Holiday Magic

Date:

The “Queen of Christmas” Mariah Carey is back — and she’s kicking off the holiday season with some playful drama!

On Halloween, while most were winding down from spooky celebrations, the 56-year-old pop icon declared, “It’s time!” for Christmas with a new Instagram video. In it, Carey faces off with a mischievous elf played by comedian Billy Eichner.

The clip opens with Carey in an angel costume, complete with white wings, saying, “Halloween slayed, but now it’s time!” The camera then pans to her vanity, where a knocked-over Sephora bag hints at her new holiday brand collaboration.

Carey questions, “Spill the tea. Who’s the thief?” — just as Eichner, dressed as a troublemaking elf, tries to sneak away with the bags. “Bad news, Mariah Carey. The elves are striking this year. Elf revenge for putting us through holiday hell. Santa’s helper quit,” he says, adding, “I’m pawning all this so I can afford elf therapy.”

“Christmas is canceled — no bells, no cheer, no glam,” Eichner declares. Carey, however, isn’t having it. She magically freezes him with her voice, transforming him into a snowman, while her outfit switches to a sparkling Santa Claus bodysuit.

The video then shows Carey flying a sleigh, directing reindeer, and dropping Sephora bags down chimneys as her classic hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You” plays. The final shot features her sleigh soaring past the Statue of Liberty, with golden text declaring, “It’s time.” Carey captioned the clip, “It’s Time!!! 🎄🎁.”

Fans and celebrities alike have been buzzing over Carey’s latest holiday venture. The video also teased her collaboration with Sephora, prompting excited reactions. TV host Kalen Allen joked, “Oh I know that check was enormous!” while British makeup artist Pat McGrath added, “Yessss ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️!!!! Beyond!”

This festive teaser follows Carey’s Halloween post showing herself with her 14-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, celebrating in Japan. Carey wore a white and blue dress with hot pink hair styled in twin ponytails, while her kids matched in fun Kigurumi onesies. She captioned the post, “Happy Halloween from Japan!!! 👻🇯🇵.”
