Kelly Clarkson recently discovered she has a namesake under the sea! On the January 15 episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the singer welcomed former preschool teacher Andrea Clulow and her husband Darrell Clulow, who are on a mission to teach children about sharks through their new book and organization, Finn & Friends.
Andrea shared that during a research expedition last summer, the first shark they helped tag was “adopted” and named Kelly Sharkson—a revelation that had Clarkson exclaiming with delight. The couple hopes to foster empathy for sharks, especially after a widely reported shark attack off Australia in 2022, emphasizing that these creatures aren’t monsters but beautiful, essential parts of the ocean.
Their interactive children’s book includes fun activities like word searches, coloring pages, and sketching exercises designed to help kids connect with marine life. Darrell explained, “When a child finishes this book and feels inspired to explore, care about the ocean, or sees sharks differently, that’s our goal.”
A portion of the proceeds from Finn & Friends will go toward organizations supporting shark research, ocean conservation, and education. The Clulows hope the book will not just be read but experienced, helping children develop a genuine appreciation for the undersea world.
