Pop star Kevin Federline is speaking out in his upcoming memoir You Thought You Knew, set for release on October 21, sharing allegations about his ex-wife Britney Spears’ behavior around their children, Sean Federline, 20, and Jayden Federline, 19.
In an excerpt published by The New York Times on October 14, Kevin claims the children would sometimes wake to find Spears “standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep… with a knife in her hand,” before she allegedly walked away without explanation.
Britney Spears’ representatives responded to the memoir, telling E! News, “Once again he and others are profiting off her… All she cares about are her kids and their well-being during this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir.” Britney’s child support payments to Kevin ended in November 2024 when Jayden turned 18.
Kevin also expressed concern for Britney’s welfare, writing in the book, “This situation with Britney feels like it’s racing toward something irreversible… Something bad is going to happen if things don’t change, and our sons could be left holding the pieces.” He urged her supporters to offer support to both Spears and their children, emphasizing, “I’ve been their buffer for years, but now it’s bigger than me. It’s time to sound the alarm.”
In Spears’ 2023 memoir The Woman in Me, she reflected on her intense custody battle with Kevin, describing herself as “out of her mind with grief.” Kevin told The New York Times that although he and Spears haven’t spoken in recent years, he has “never, ever… been against Britney,” and has spent two decades trying to help his sons maintain a strong relationship with their mother.
