Malaysian Chef Says Men Should See Women Without Makeup First

Date:

Singer and celebrity chef Datuk Fazley Yaakob has advised men not to be “trapped” by their attraction to women who wear heavy makeup, including those who frequently draw their eyebrows.

Fazley, whose real name is Ahmad Fadzli Yaakob, 48, said a woman should ideally be considered a potential life partner if she lives authentically and is not judged solely on physical appearance.

“Sorry to say, don’t get used to falling in love with women who wear layers of makeup, have drawn eyebrows (when they don’t actually have any), thick lipstick that looks different from their real lips, false eyelashes like festive curtains, and are drenched in perfume like fabric softener,” he wrote on Threads.

The singer of Asmara Ini said his advice was meant to prevent men who intend to get married from feeling disappointed in the future.

“Unless you have already seen her without a trace of makeup. Otherwise, you might be shocked one day when you see her real face unexpectedly,” he added.

He compared love based on makeup to being “scammed”, likening it to seeing heavily filtered faces on social media.

Fazley, who won MasterChef Selebriti Malaysia 2012, said his remarks sparked strong reactions online, particularly from women who voiced their disagreement.

“I don’t like hearing opinions from moustached men,” and “Thank you for being honest. Believe me, many women are hurt by this reality,” were among the comments shared by netizens.
