Comedian Park Na Rae has once again become the center of discussion, as new details surface regarding the ongoing controversy involving her former managers. Reports indicate that Park gave her managers expensive luxury gifts, while the managers in turn presented her with costly and thoughtful items.
On December 24, YouTuber Lee Jin Ho uploaded a video offering a different perspective on the controversy, titled “Chanel Watch and Code Kunst Lunch Boxes… Manager Abuse Controversy! Park Na Rae’s Two Faces.” Lee claimed that some cooking scenes on MBC’s I Live Alone were prepared by her managers, but stressed that the situation was not one-sided.
“Was Park Na Rae really only guilty of mistreating her managers? That’s not entirely true,” Lee said. “She paid performance bonuses, gave extra money during holidays, and gifted them Chanel bags and watches. By any standard, that’s very generous treatment.”
According to Lee, the managers acknowledged Park’s generosity and tried to reciprocate. “They pooled their modest salaries to buy her Chanel shoes, sent snack and coffee trucks, and even gifted Dom Pérignon champagne,” he explained. Lee also noted that broken wine glasses at Park’s home bar, “Narae Bar,” were replaced by the managers, who gifted her roughly 10 glasses worth around KRW 200,000 each.
The dispute, Lee explained, primarily arose from cash expenses rather than misuse of corporate funds. Park provided her managers with a corporate credit card, but out-of-pocket costs for items like valet parking or snacks sometimes accumulated into several hundred thousand won each month. These unpaid expenses, coupled with occasional one- to two-day delays in salary payments, created tension.
“One manager sent a message asking about their salary, and Park replied, ‘I’ll pay when the time comes. Do you really have to message me every time? I’m busy and not feeling well—please consider my situation too,’” Lee said.
Overall, the new details suggest a complex relationship between Park and her managers, marked by both generosity and financial strain, offering fresh insight into the controversy.
