Nicki Minaj and James Blunt just had a hilarious — and surprisingly wholesome — moment on social media.
On Wednesday, Oct. 22, the 42-year-old Super Bass rapper took to X (formerly Twitter) to post a short but uplifting message for her followers: “Idk who needs to hear this, but you’re beautiful.”
British singer James Blunt, 51, quickly jumped into the conversation with a cheeky reply: “You’re a little slow to the party.”
The witty comeback was a nod to Blunt’s iconic 2004 hit “You’re Beautiful,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 and has since racked up over 1 billion Spotify streams.
Minaj, known for her humor, took the joke in stride, simply responding, “Touché.”
While the playful banter amused many, some of Minaj’s loyal fans — the Barbz — initially thought Blunt was being shady and rushed to her defense. One user quickly clarified the joke, posting, “Y’all, how are you mad at this? It’s a joke because he literally has a song called ‘You’re Beautiful.’”
Other fans soon caught on and joined in the laughter. “Lmaoooo wait, because why was I about to swing?” one Barb wrote. “I just realized who this was.” Another added, “Lmao we were about to jump that man until we checked his profile.”
The lighthearted exchange reminded fans of another viral moment Minaj once had — her funny back-and-forth with John Mayer on Twitter back in 2017.
Even nearly two decades after “You’re Beautiful” first topped charts, James Blunt still knows how to steal the spotlight — and clearly, Nicki Minaj is here for it.
