“Thank You for Everything”: Top Mukbang Creator Hamzy Takes a Break From YouTube

Date:

One of South Korea’s most popular mukbang creators, Hamzy, has announced a temporary hiatus from her YouTube channel as she focuses on preparing for childbirth and safeguarding her health.

In a video uploaded on Jan 4, Hamzy — who has more than 14 million subscribers — said she is entering her eighth year as a YouTuber and has reached a point in life where she wants to prioritise family planning. She shared that she began her YouTube journey in her late 20s and is now in her mid-30s, while also marking a decade-long relationship with her longtime boyfriend.

Hamzy explained that the decision to pause her food content was not taken lightly, but felt necessary given her plans for motherhood.

“If I don’t make a decision now about childbirth, I may just continue delaying it while getting older over the next one or two years,” she said, adding that she decided to take a break from mukbang content for the time being after careful consideration.

During her hiatus, Hamzy said she intends to rest, adopt healthier eating habits, stop drinking alcohol and receive medical care as she prepares to try for a child in 2026.

She reassured fans that she would not disappear entirely, saying she plans to upload occasional lifestyle content and previously recorded videos to stay connected with viewers.

The announcement drew an outpouring of support from fans worldwide, many expressing both sadness and encouragement. Messages of support appeared in multiple languages, including Turkish, Arabic, Uzbek, Japanese and Greek, reflecting her large international following.
