The Kuching City Parking System (KCPS), the company currently managing public parking in Kuching City and the BorneoParkKCH mobile app, has announced that it will cease managing parking operations in Kuching effective November 1, 2025.
The announcement follows a statement from the Kuching South City Council (MBKS), which confirmed that a new parking management system will be introduced on the same date.
According to a notice published on KCPS’s official website, a new vendor will take over the city’s parking operations, while KCPS will permanently shut down its system after October 2025.
The company further stated that users with remaining balances in the BorneoParkKCH App can claim cash refunds at the KCPS office on Jalan Datuk Abang Abdul Rahim from October 20 to November 15, 2025, Mondays to Fridays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Although not explicitly mentioned, it is understood that the BorneoParkKCH app will be discontinued starting November 1, coinciding with KCPS’s exit from Kuching’s parking operations.
The announcement came as a surprise to many, especially since BorneoParkKCH had only recently been rolled out as a replacement for the existing coupon-based parking system. KCPS also manages smart parking systems in Sibu, Bintulu, and Miri, leading many to believe it would continue to dominate urban parking services across Sarawak.
Despite the app’s user-friendly design and seamless integration from KCPS’s previous parking app, the company’s confirmed withdrawal marks the start of a major transition for Kuching’s parking ecosystem.
While MBKS has yet to officially name the incoming operator, Pay & Go has emerged as the leading candidate. The company’s recent social media hints align closely with local council announcements, and given its widespread presence in Kuching’s shopping malls, many believe Pay & Go will take over parking management in the city.
The anticipated new system is expected to introduce features such as real-time parking space updates and integration between council and off-street parking, promising a smoother and more connected parking experience.
The transition on November 1, 2025, is being eagerly awaited by Kuching residents, who hope that the new management will offer enhanced convenience, improved technology, and potentially more competitive parking rates, ultimately making daily commuting around the city easier and more efficient.
