Budget 2026: New Proton & Perodua Cars Go Tax-Free For Taxi Owners

Under Budget 2026, the government will continue offering full excise duty and sales tax exemptions for taxi and private hire vehicle owners purchasing new Proton or Perodua cars.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim also announced that HRD Corp will allocate RM10 million to cover course fees and training allowances for registered taxi drivers who contribute to the scheme and participate in capacity-building programmes.

He said the initiative aims to enhance operational efficiency and safety within the public transport sector.
