SOCSO Disburses RM6.65 Billion To Over 1.15 Million Recipients Nationwide

Date:

The Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) disbursed RM6.65 billion in benefits to more than 1.15 million recipients nationwide last year, highlighting the growing strength of Malaysia’s social protection system.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said the figures reflected an 8.34% increase in payouts and a 5.06% rise in the number of recipients compared with 2024. He emphasised that broadening participation in SOCSO remains a key priority for the government.

Officiating the KESUMA SOCSO LINDUNG 2026 Chinese New Year reception, attended by nearly 7,000 guests, Ramanan praised SOCSO’s management for their crucial role in achieving this milestone.

New Policy Reforms Planned

Ramanan outlined three policy reforms scheduled for implementation this year to ensure a dynamic social security system. The first is LINDUNG 24 Jam, providing protection beyond office hours. The second involves enforcing the Gig Workers Act 2025, extending social security coverage to young workers in flexible employment. The third initiative is the Traveller Scheme for LINDUNG Kendiri contributors, which is expected to be fully operational in 2026.

Benefits Distributed At Chinese New Year Reception

During the event, SOCSO distributed RM318,042.84 in benefits to 15 contributors and their heirs. The recipients included six LINDUNG Pekerja, four LINDUNG Kerjaya, three LINDUNG Kendiri, and two LINDUNG Kasih beneficiaries.

In addition, 100 orphans received angpao, while 40 widows and widowers were presented with hampers. Social responsibility efforts also extended to 10 NGOs and welfare organisations around Sungai Buloh, each receiving RM10,000 to support community initiatives.

Ramanan reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to ensuring Malaysians continue to benefit from a robust and inclusive social protection system.
