Police have classified the death of a schoolboy in Senawang yesterday afternoon as a bullying-related case under Section 507C of the Penal Code.
Negeri Sembilan Police Chief, Datuk Alzafny Ahmad, said the 10-year-old was found unconscious in a school toilet before being rushed to a private clinic.
“At about 1.19pm yesterday, police received information regarding the death of a 10-year-old boy while receiving treatment at a private clinic.
“The victim had been taken by a discipline teacher for treatment at the clinic, but the doctor confirmed that he had already passed away,” he said in a statement today.
Section 507C of the Penal Code is applied for offences related to acts of bullying, particularly those involving threatening or insulting communication.
Media reports yesterday quoted Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek as saying that parents and pupils of the school would be given psychosocial support and assured that there was no need to be fearful of attending classes following the incident.
Alzafny said police immediately went to the school after receiving the report and learned that the victim was discovered unconscious in the boys’ toilet of a primary school in the district.
He added that, at this stage, the case is classified under Section 507C of the Penal Code, and a post-mortem will be carried out today to determine the exact cause of death.
The police also urged the public not to speculate or spread unverified information regarding the incident.
