Police have arrested 12 men suspected of being involved in an act of mischief and rioting at an entertainment outlet in Cheras on Sunday.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Fadil Marsus said several vehicles, including a lorry believed to have been used during the incident, were also seized by authorities as part of the investigation.
He confirmed that all 12 suspects have been detained, with remand applications submitted to facilitate further inquiries. The case is being investigated under Section 427 and Section 148 of the Penal Code.
Police said a media briefing on the case is scheduled to be held at 11am on Wednesday at the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters Media Centre.
Fadil had earlier stated that police received a report on the incident at about 7.30pm on Monday. Preliminary findings suggest the incident occurred around 1.30pm when a group of men allegedly rammed the premises’ gate using a lorry before forcing their way inside.
The group is also believed to have carried out acts of vandalism by damaging items within the entertainment outlet, causing significant disruption and property damage. Investigations into the motive and full circumstances of the incident are ongoing.
