A 14-year-old girl was found dead after reportedly falling from the 21st floor of an apartment in Paya Terubong, Ayer Itam, on Sunday night.

The incident occurred at around 8:06 p.m. when the local teenager was discovered unconscious on the ground floor by members of the public, who then alerted police.

Northeast District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rozak Muhammad said initial investigations at the scene, conducted together with the Penang Contingent Police Headquarters Forensics Unit, found no signs of foul play.

“The victim’s body has been sent to the Penang Hospital Forensic Department for a post-mortem, which is expected to be conducted today (Monday),” he said in a statement on Sunday.

He added that the case has been classified as sudden death (SDR), and a report has been opened to investigate the cause of death from various angles.

Abdul Rozak also advised the public not to speculate about the incident as it could disrupt police investigations.
