14-Year-Old Stabbing Case: Suspect Charged For Murder

Date:

A 14-year-old male student appeared in the Magistrate’s Court here on Thursday, facing a charge of murdering a 16-year-old female student in a stabbing incident at a secondary school in Bandar Utama last week.

The Form One (transition class) teenager, dressed in an orange detention shirt, nodded in acknowledgment after the charge was read in Mandarin before Magistrate Amira Sariaty Zainal. No plea was recorded as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

According to the charge, the juvenile allegedly killed a Form Three student in toilet number two of the school between 9:20 and 9:35 a.m. on 14 October. He is charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment, or a fixed term if convicted.

The prosecution was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Raja Zaizul Faridah Raja Zaharudin, while the accused was represented by lawyer Anwar Ezzad Zainal.

Bail was not granted, and the court set 21 November for the next mention of the case. Media efforts to photograph the suspect were unsuccessful as the underage student was brought into court through a separate entrance.

The victim was found dead in the school toilet, allegedly stabbed multiple times.
