A total of 149 public health clinics across Sarawak will transition to a paperless system this year, backed by a RM10 million allocation from the Sarawak government, in a move aimed at modernising healthcare delivery in the state.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian said the digital shift will include Batu Kawa Health Clinic, which is also undergoing major upgrades as part of the initiative.
“These 149 clinics — which manage around 70 per cent of Sarawak’s patient volume — will no longer require patients to carry physical medical folders. This is a significant step forward in efficiency and care,” Dr Sim said in a Facebook post following a site visit.
The Batu Kawa Health Clinic is currently undergoing a RM900,000 refurbishment project, which includes an expanded blood testing lab, improved air conditioning, electrical upgrades, and a revamped septic system.
Dr Sim said the works, currently at 12 per cent progress, are on track and expected to be completed by December.
He also urged the public to be patient and understanding during the clinic’s digital transformation and ongoing construction.
