A teenage boy was brought before the Special Children’s Magistrate Court on Wednesday, facing charges of raping a 16-year-old girl.
The 15-year-old defendant is alleged to have committed the offence in Taman Tuntung, Bota, in the Perak Tengah district at around noon on 24 December 2025.
The act is punishable under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping upon conviction.
During proceedings, the accused pleaded guilty after the charge was read out through an interpreter before Magistrate Azlin Zeti Zainal Abidin.
The prosecution was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Wan Mohd. Ameerul Nazhif Wan Zulfikri, while the accused was represented by lawyer Canice Chan from the National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK).
The court granted bail of RM1,400 with one surety, and the case was fixed for mention on 11 March, pending a behavioural report.
