A missing British teenager, 17-year-old David Balisong, who was reported missing on June 7, is believed to have been in Malaysia for the past three months on a holiday. His tourist visa is set to expire tomorrow.
Selangor Police Chief, Datuk Shazeli Kahar, confirmed that Balisong entered Malaysia on June 7 and investigations into his disappearance are still ongoing.
“Based on his visa entry, he had three months before it expired, and tomorrow marks the end of that period. From what we know, he came here for a holiday. If nothing has happened to him, he should be leaving Malaysia tomorrow and we should be able to track his movements,” Shazeli said during a press conference at the Selangor Police Headquarters today.
He added that efforts to locate the teenager continue, guided by information provided by his mother. “We are actively following up on all leads from various parties. As of now, his whereabouts remain unknown,” he said.
Media reports earlier revealed that David secretly boarded a flight from Manchester to Kuala Lumpur after leaving his home in Cheadle, Greater Manchester, early on June 6. He had told his brother he was heading to school, but instead took the solo trip.
Since then, David switched off his phone and stopped responding to emails. The last known contact with his family was an email to his mother on July 9, where he reassured her not to worry, urged them not to search for him, apologized for his actions, and wished his family success in life.
