A 17-year-old student was caught on dashcam assaulting another 17-year-old student on a motorcycle outside a secondary school in Larkin, Johor, earlier this week. The video of the incident has circulated widely on social media.
The victim filed a police report on Thursday (29 January) at 7:13 PM. According to Johor Bahru South District Police Chief ACP Raub Selamat, the attack occurred at approximately 2:30 PM and involved the student and his unemployed 20-year-old brother.
Preliminary investigations indicate the assault was linked to the victim’s alleged sexual harassment of a 13-year-old female student at the same school around 2 PM, just 30 minutes prior to the attack. The female student also lodged a police report about the harassment later that day at 5:43 PM.
Police are investigating the assault under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of one year in jail, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both. The alleged sexual harassment is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code, with a potential jail term of up to five years.
ACP Raub advised the public not to share the dashcam footage on social media to prevent misunderstandings and maintain social harmony.
