18-Year-Old Arrested for Allegedly Sending Threatening SMS to Teen in Tawau

An 18-year-old local man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly sending threatening text messages to a teenager in Tawau.

Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the arrest was made at Lorong Industri Megah 1, Jalan Tiku, following a police report lodged by a 15-year-old boy.

According to Jasmin, the victim received threatening SMS messages from an unknown number while he was at a mosque in the Ranggu area, prompting him to report the matter to the police.

Acting on the report, a police team launched an operation to track down the suspect before successfully making the arrest.

Police also seized a mobile phone and a SIM card believed to have been used to send the threatening messages.

The suspect and the seized items were taken to the Tawau District Police Headquarters for further investigation and necessary action, Jasmin added.
