A tragic accident in Marudi claimed the life of a two-year-old boy after he was struck by a pickup truck in front of Rumah Jelaping, near Sungai Arang, yesterday.
Marudi police chief DSP Nor Aizan Mohd Jamil confirmed the incident occurred around 5:00 PM while the boy was playing with a toy car. The vehicle involved was a single-cab pickup truck driven by a 68-year-old man.
“The driver did not see the child at the location, which led to the accident,” DSP Nor Aizan said.
The injured boy was rushed to Marudi Hospital, but was pronounced dead by a medical officer at 5:56 PM.
Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
