A 20-year-old man believed to be acting as a “package runner” for a drug syndicate was arrested during a police raid at a courier service centre on Jalan Kong Ping, Padawan, last Friday. The operation, conducted at 9am, uncovered 690 cartridges of cannabis liquid worth an estimated RM586,500, equivalent to around 3,450 vape uses.
Padawan police chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi said the suspect had been involved in the syndicate’s operations since September and had previously collected parcels for the group on two occasions from the same location.
The man allegedly received RM200 for each parcel collected and RM20 per cartridge delivered to customers in Kuching and Padawan.
Although his urine test returned negative for drug use, the suspect has been remanded for seven days until Dec 13. Police are now working to identify the syndicate’s leader and wider network.
