20-Year-Old Crashes Father’s Ferrari F8 on Kajang Highway, Escapes Unhurt

Date:

A 20-year-old driver’s early morning outing turned into a costly mishap after he crashed a Ferrari F8 Tributo along KM1.3 of the Kajang Dispersal Link Expressway (SILK).

The incident, which occurred around 6am on 5 February, prompted police to issue a summons for careless driving. Kajang district police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof revealed that initial investigations indicated the young driver lost control of the supercar while en route to his destination.

The Ferrari swerved, collided with the central road divider, skidded across multiple lanes, and finally came to rest on the highway’s left shoulder. The vehicle, owned by the driver’s father, suffered substantial damage to both its front and rear ends. Fortunately, the driver escaped unscathed.

Although no other individuals were injured, police emphasised the importance of road safety. “We urge all road users to drive responsibly, follow traffic rules, and stay alert to prevent accidents,” ACP Naazron stated.

The driver was issued a summons under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules (LN 166/59) for failing to maintain proper control of his vehicle, a violation that carries a standard compound fine of RM300. In more severe cases, offences of careless or inconsiderate driving can be prosecuted under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries fines ranging from RM5,000 to RM10,000 and imprisonment for up to 12 months.
