23-Year-Old Woman Murdered by Boyfriend and Roommate, Body Hidden Over a Year

Date:

A 23-year-old woman was brutally murdered by her boyfriend and a roommate, with her body hidden and abandoned, in a case that remained undiscovered for over a year. The victim, surnamed Jin, began an online relationship with a 27-year-old man, surnamed Zhuang, in May last year. By July, she had moved to Yuli to live in a shared rental with another couple.

According to police, the roommate’s wife confessed that the violence began after the victim allegedly stole her phone. The abuse escalated over several weeks, culminating in the fatal attack. After the killing, the perpetrators wrapped the victim in a quilt, secured her with rope to prevent blood from spilling, and placed her in plastic to contain odor. They then transported her body roughly 19 kilometers to a remote area in Liushishi Mountain, using a wooden cabinet to conceal the remains, with the help of an acquaintance familiar with the terrain.

When authorities arrived, only skeletal remains—including the skull and hand bones—were recovered from the site. Police also found six burned incense sticks, left by the accomplice who reportedly returned to the scene in remorse to pay respects.

The crime remained hidden for more than a year until the victim’s boyfriend’s sister noticed sudden, unexplained spending, prompting an investigation. All four suspects involved in the murder and disposal of the body have been taken into custody. The authorities are continuing to investigate the exact motive and roles of each suspect.
