A three-year-old girl sustained serious mouth injuries after reportedly jumping out of a moving car while being driven by her teacher to her first day of preschool in Rompin, Pahang.
According to a report by Sin Chew Daily, the girl’s mother said the incident occurred less than five minutes after the teacher picked her up from home.
The teacher had initially called to inform the mother that the child had been injured, leading her to believe the injuries were minor. However, when her daughter did not return home shortly after the call, the mother went to the scene herself.
“When I arrived, I saw my child covered in blood, with blood coming from her mouth. I immediately rushed her to the hospital’s emergency department,” she said.

Medical examinations revealed that the girl’s injuries were more severe than initially thought. Doctors referred her to a dental specialist, who found deep tears to her gums, in addition to external wounds on her lips.
The child subsequently underwent surgery under general anaesthesia and required more than 20 stitches to treat the injuries.

The circumstances surrounding how and why the girl exited the vehicle remain unclear.
The child has since been discharged and is recuperating at home. However, she is currently unable to eat solid food and is limited to a liquid diet, with milk and medication administered by spoon. Her wounds must also be disinfected and medicated regularly, and she requires weekly medical check-ups to prevent infection.
“I still feel scared whenever I think about what happened. I just hope my child recovers quickly,” the mother said.
