A shocking scandal has emerged in Kentucky, USA, involving a 30-year-old substitute teacher accused of engaging in inappropriate video chats with a minor student while allegedly in the shower, and reportedly arranging in-person meetings with the student. The case has alarmed both the local education community and parents.
According to People, the teacher, Krystal Sims, allegedly exposed her chest during a phone call with a male student on August 22. While no video recordings were obtained, the student provided audio evidence confirming intimate conversation between the two.
Detectives from the Barron County Sheriff’s Office reported that the student claimed a second “shower video call” took place, in which others present on the call also saw Sims with her upper body exposed. Authorities confirmed the voice in the recordings was indeed Sims.
The student said he met Sims at school when she served as his substitute teacher. They later communicated frequently via messaging apps and discussed meeting in Cave City, near the Kentucky-Tennessee border. During one call, Sims allegedly asked, “Will you come and meet me?”
During police questioning, Sims admitted the voice in the recording was hers but insisted she only wanted the student to apologize in person for classroom behavior. She denied any sexual intent or plans to meet. Her attorney, Travis B. Lock, stated that Sims will appear in court on October 8 and will plead not guilty, emphasizing that “only fragments of the story are publicly known.”
Court documents show that Sims faces charges of “using electronic means to entice or solicit sexual conduct from a minor,” which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison if convicted.
