A 48-year-old man was found dead in a McDonald’s restroom in Nanzi District, Kaohsiung City, on September 9. The man, surnamed Lin, entered the restroom but failed to come out for an extended period. Concerned staff discovered the door had been locked for some time and forcibly entered, only to find Lin lying motionless. Emergency responders confirmed he was deceased upon arrival.
Lin, identified as a contractor for TSMC, was reported to have been alone in the restroom the previous night. Police have contacted his family and the Qiaotou District Prosecutor’s Office has been notified to conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
According to staff, the restroom had been locked for a long time during routine cleaning. Attempts to call out to the man went unanswered, prompting employees to unlock the door with a coin, leading to the discovery of the body. The restaurant temporarily closed and is fully cooperating with authorities.
Preliminary police findings showed no signs of a struggle or visible injuries on the body. However, an unknown needle was found behind the toilet. Authorities are awaiting the autopsy results to clarify the cause of death.
