A six-year-old boy is recovering in the hospital after being attacked and bitten by a dog while cycling near his home in Batu 9, Cheras. The shocking incident, which was partially captured on video, has led to the dog’s capture by local authorities.
According to Kajang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof, the police received a report from the boy’s 20-year-old brother on Wednesday night. The child was reportedly playing on his bicycle when a dog suddenly rushed him, leading to a struggle.
Neighbours’ Quick Action Saves Child
A viral video shows the brief, frightening confrontation, where the boy can be seen trying to fend off the animal before managing to escape. He sustained injuries to his head, and photos circulating online show him covered in blood with visible lacerations.
“The quick actions of several neighbours who came to help managed to scare the dog away,” Naazron stated. The boy was immediately taken to the hospital and is now in stable condition in the Paediatric Ward of Kajang Hospital.

Following the incident, the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) was alerted and quickly responded. Their enforcement team successfully located and captured the dog for further action.
The case is being investigated under Section 289 of the Penal Code and Section 41(1) of the Animals Act 1953. Authorities are still working to determine if the dog has a registered owner.
