A 60-metre landslide struck Jalan Sepadu 7 in Taman United at around 10am today, burying several vehicles and prompting the evacuation of 104 residential units.
The collapse occurred behind Block B of the low-cost Taman United flats, completely crushing one car, toppling another and damaging several motorcycles, according to Seputeh MP Teresa Kok.
Kok’s service centre reported the situation to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) after receiving alerts from residents. Her team arrived at the scene by 10.40am, where firefighters and DBKL officers were already working to secure the area.
In a separate statement, the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department said it received the emergency call at 11.02am and deployed 11 personnel along with a Fire Rescue Tender and utility vehicle from the Seputeh station. Deputy Fire Superintendent II Armdan Mahat confirmed the landslide had affected the adjacent apartment complex.
Kok added that Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Fadlun visited the site shortly after the incident to observe the ongoing response.
Due to safety risks, DBKL has ordered the evacuation of residents from Block B and Block C of the Taman United flats. Affected families have been relocated to the Sri Petaling Community Centre, which has been designated as a temporary evacuation shelter.
“I urge all affected residents to fully cooperate with the authorities and move to the shelter immediately,” said Kok.
No casualties have been reported so far, but authorities are continuing to monitor the area closely due to heavy rainfall and unstable ground conditions.
