7-Year-Old Boy Traumatised After Surviving Mother’s Hanging Attempt In Kulim

Date:

A seven-year-old boy who miraculously survived after his mother allegedly tried to hang him at their home in Taman Perak, Kulim, on Monday night, is reportedly still traumatized by the horrific incident.

The tragedy, which occurred around 11:05 p.m., saw the boy escape death when the cloth tied around his neck slipped off as his mother pushed him from an aluminum ladder. His mother was later found hanging, while his four-year-old sister was discovered dead on a mattress in one of the bedrooms — believed to have been killed by their mother earlier.

Kedah’s Committee Chairperson for Welfare, Women, Family, Community, and Unity, Datuk Halimaton Shaadiah Saad, said the Social Welfare Department (JKM) had been alerted by police from the Kulim District Headquarters (IPD) and Kulim Hospital regarding the child’s next of kin.

She confirmed that the boy’s biological father has been located and that the child remains under treatment at Kulim Hospital for neck injuries consistent with strangulation marks.

“The father has expressed his willingness to care for his son once he is discharged from the hospital,” she said. “The boy is a Year One student at a primary school in Paya Besar, Kulim.”

Halimaton added that JKM officers will visit and assess the father’s home once the boy is released to ensure his safety and wellbeing.

Police have classified the case as murder and attempted murder under Sections 302 and 307 of the Penal Code following the discovery of the mother and daughter’s bodies in their home.
