A 37-year-old army corporal was charged at the Magistrate’s Court here today for allegedly causing injuries to seven fellow soldiers in an incident at a military camp.
The accused, Sukry Tasu, pleaded not guilty and requested for a trial after the charges were read before Magistrate Muhammad Aiman Azahan.
For the first charge, he is accused of voluntarily causing grievous hurt to soldier Muhammad Amirul Raziq Rosafindi, 24, under Section 325 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of seven years’ imprisonment or a fine upon conviction.
The offence is alleged to have taken place at about 8.30pm in the weapons store of Company C, 25th Battalion Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD) camp on March 30, 2026.
For six additional charges, the accused is alleged to have caused injury to six other soldiers — Mohamad Atiqillah Taugek Rashidi, Muhammad Syakirin Yaacob, Muhammad Azman Shah Ismail, Nik Amir Zaqwan Nik Asrizal, Muhammad Irfan Aiman Mohd Tajudin and Muhammad Danial Asraf Azizan — at the same time, date and location.
These charges fall under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which provides for a jail term of up to one year, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, if convicted.
The court allowed bail of RM7,000 for the first charge and RM2,000 for each of the remaining six charges, with one surety.
Additional conditions were also imposed, requiring the accused not to approach or interfere with the victims until the case is resolved.
The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Zamharir Muhammad Zuhid, while the accused was represented by lawyer Mohamed Hafiz Baharudin.
The court fixed May 18 for mention and document submission.
