A 36-year-old suspect allegedly attacked a man with a knife in broad daylight in Alor Gajah, Malacca, before rushing to a police station to report the incident and then fleeing the scene.
The incident occurred around 2:00 PM on August 24. According to reports, the suspect, who was dressed in women’s clothing and armed with a cleaver, attacked a man in his 40s from behind, causing injuries.
After the assault, the suspect panicked, ran to the Alor Gajah Police Station to inform officers that someone had been injured, and then disappeared. The victim was immediately taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Following an investigation, police detained the suspect, a 36-year-old from Kuala Lumpur, around noon yesterday. He was brought to the Melaka Magistrate’s Court today under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code for a remand application.
Magistrate Sharda Shienha approved a four-day remand until August 29 to allow police to investigate under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing hurt with a dangerous weapon. The suspect reportedly has multiple prior criminal records.
