A West Malaysian netizen has taken to social media to share their surprise at the speed and efficiency of government services in Sabah and Sarawak, particularly when it comes to renewing important documents like identity cards and driving licenses.
In a post on Threads, the user compared the experience to the often long waits in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, remarking that the process in East Malaysia was “very fast” and “impressive.”
The netizen described arriving at the counter at 11:43 a.m. to change their address and complete payment. Within just 15 minutes—including taking a new photo and waiting behind eight other customers—the entire process was completed by 11:57 a.m.
“They told me the new IC would be ready in just half an hour,” the user wrote, adding that the convenience and efficiency stood in stark contrast to the busier offices in West Malaysia.
The post has since drawn attention online, with many agreeing that government service centres in Sabah and Sarawak tend to be less congested, offering quicker turnaround times compared to the Klang Valley.
