In the car fire incident that killed two people, the victims have been confirmed as a Chinese male and female who were in a relationship.
The male victim, identified as Feng Sheng Qin (transliterated from 冯胜勤), 21, from Perlis, died in a fatal car fire early this morning near the Jitra toll plaza along the North–South Expressway.
He was involved in a fruit wholesale business operated together with his father, Feng Qiao Feng (transliterated 冯乔峰), and his elder brother, Feng Sheng Kai (transliterated 冯胜凯), 24. The female victim was from Penang.
Family members arrived at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital mortuary in Alor Setar this afternoon to complete post-mortem arrangements and related procedures.
Speaking to reporters, Feng Sheng Kai (transliterated 冯胜凯) said the family only learned of the tragedy after receiving a call from the police earlier today.
At the time of the incident, the two victims were travelling from Penang to Perlis.
The fatal fire occurred at about 1.05am when their car caught fire near the Jitra toll plaza. It is believed that Feng Sheng Qin (transliterated 冯胜勤) was unable to escape in time and was burned to death.
