A petrol station roof collapsed after being struck by a large cargo trailer while the vehicle was entering the premises to refuel earlier today.
Kulim deputy police chief DSP Tengku Mohd Faisal Tengku Yeng said the incident occurred at about 7.20am along the Sungai Ular–Serdang trunk road.
He said the trailer, which was owned by a logistics company, was manoeuvring towards the diesel pump when its body hit the petrol station’s roof structure, causing it to give way.
“The impact resulted in the collapse of the roof and damage to four fuel pumps,” he said in a statement.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the truck itself did not suffer any damage.
The vehicle was driven by a 24-year-old man who was travelling from Klang to Kuala Ketil at the time of the incident.
Police are investigating the case for failing to maintain proper control of a vehicle under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 (L.N. 166/59).
