Chinese Passenger Removed From MH318 After “Lightly Tapping” Flight Attendance

Date:

A Chinese passenger was escorted off a Malaysia Airlines flight after allegedly displaying unruly behaviour and failing to comply with cabin crew instructions, according to a viral video circulating online.

Footage of the incident showed the male passenger claiming he had only “lightly tapped” a flight attendant twice, insisting that it did not constitute inappropriate contact. He reportedly requested for CCTV footage to be reviewed to support his claim, but his explanation was not accepted, and security personnel were eventually called in to remove him from the aircraft.

The incident was said to have occurred on Malaysia Airlines flight MH318 from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on Tuesday. A witness, Ye Yuanyi, who works in the tourism industry, shared on social media that it was his first time seeing a passenger being removed from a plane.

Ye stated that the passenger was accused of having a poor attitude and possibly behaving inappropriately towards cabin crew, though he clarified that he did not witness the entire sequence of events and could not confirm the full details.

He added that the situation may have been exacerbated by earlier issues at the airport prior to boarding. According to him, passengers faced multiple technical problems, including difficulties entering the departure hall after completing check-in procedures.

This was reportedly due to a last-minute aircraft change by the airline, which resulted in seat reallocations. Passengers were required to reprint their boarding passes and have their seats reassigned at the counter.

Ye described the scene as chaotic, with no clear crowd control, limited space, and slow processing by ground staff, leaving many passengers frustrated and exhausted. He also noted that some passengers who were originally seated together were separated, with little time left before departure to resolve the issue.

Additionally, he highlighted that many Chinese passengers at the scene struggled to understand the announcements due to language barriers, and there was a lack of translation assistance, which added to the confusion.

“While the passenger who was removed may have acted inappropriately, better organisation and more professional handling earlier on might have prevented the situation from escalating,” he said.

He concluded that although it is difficult to determine who was at fault, the overall experience had left a negative impression of Malaysia among several Chinese passengers on board.
