A convenience store selling household items was destroyed in a fire near a restaurant here on Friday.
Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, Assistant Director of Operations at the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, said authorities received an emergency call about the incident at 4.41am.
“Nineteen personnel with fire engines from the Kajang Fire Station, assisted by crews from Bangi Fire Station and Semenyih Fire Station, rushed to the scene, which is approximately nine kilometres away,” he said in a statement on Friday.
Upon arrival seven minutes later, the fire was found to involve a convenience store classified as a Class B building.
“Firefighting operations are ongoing as crews work to contain and extinguish the blaze,” Ahmad Mukhlis added.
