Cook Killed After Food Complaint Turns Deadly In Bukit Juru

Date:

A dispute between a Myanmar cook and a customer over allegedly poor-tasting food ended in tragedy when the woman was fatally stabbed at a Thai-style restaurant in Lorong Bukit Juru, Bukit Juru, late last night.

The incident occurred at around 9pm, where the victim, believed to be in her 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Her husband, also a Myanmar national in his late 40s, sustained injuries to his body. Another man, identified as a friend of the suspect, was also injured after being stabbed during the same altercation.

It is understood that the suspect and several companions had dined at the restaurant around 8.30pm. The group, believed to be intoxicated, expressed dissatisfaction with the food served and subsequently got into an argument with the cook and her husband. The victim later instructed them to leave the premises.

One of the men, reportedly in his 30s, is said to have contacted his brother before returning to the restaurant and stabbing the woman to death with a knife.

Swift action by police led to the arrest of the suspect and his brother, both in their late 30s, near the scene shortly after the attack.

The victim’s body has been sent to Hospital Seberang Jaya for a post-mortem, while the two injured men are receiving treatment at the same hospital.

State police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect is believed to have been intoxicated. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
