A couple in Bangsar faced police action after attempting to grow cannabis plants at their condominium, reportedly learning the technique from YouTube.
According to Brickfields District Police Chief, Asst. Comm. Hoo Chang Hook, the Kuala Lumpur Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) raided the unit at 11:30pm yesterday, detaining the 40-year-old man and his 48-year-old girlfriend.
Authorities seized two cannabis plants, each 48cm tall, along with 27 grams of dried cannabis, with a total street value of RM1,210. Additional items confiscated included two mobile phones, four necklaces, one anklet, one bracelet, two rings, and four lockets.
The male suspect had been renting the unit with his partner for nearly a year, and police reported that the plants had been cultivated for seven weeks. Investigations revealed that the male suspect had a prior drug record and tested positive for drugs, while his female partner tested negative. Both are unemployed.
The case is being investigated under Section 6B and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
