A wedding ceremony between Vicky Rio Wimbi Utomo and Feronika Parastuti has gone viral on social media after the groom presented an unusual dowry in the form of a mango sapling.
The ceremony took place in Desa Sambiyan, Kaliori District, Rembang Regency, Central Java, Indonesia, over the weekend, drawing public attention for its symbolic and unconventional approach to marriage traditions.
According to Vicky, the mango plant was chosen as a meaningful representation of hope and growth for their newly built household.
He said the dowry symbolises their commitment to nurturing life together, with each part of the tree reflecting different stages of their marital journey.
Vicky explained that the mango sapling was more than a symbolic gift, but a personal expression of prayers and aspirations for their relationship to grow strong and enduring, much like the tree’s roots and branches.
