A good-intentioned gesture by a couple to help a friend in need turned into a frightening ordeal when the man allegedly brought several accomplices to rob their home in Kepong, before fleeing with a car.
During the incident, the suspects, armed with a parang and an electric stun device, reportedly assaulted the couple, causing injuries.
Sentul District Police Chief, Asisten Komisioner Basri Sagoni, said authorities received a report of the incident at 12.10am.
He explained that the victims were approached by four men and a woman at their rented room in Bandar Manjalara, Kepong, and one of the suspects was known to them.
“The suspect entered the home, leading to a verbal dispute. During their escape, they took the keys to a Honda City, three mobile phones, and several personal documents,” Basri said.
Following further investigations, police arrested two men at a hotel in Cheras at 3.30am to assist with inquiries and recovered several items linked to the case.
A six-day remand for both suspects was granted until 20 March.
The case is being investigated under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code for armed robbery.
