An 11-year-old boy in Hong Kong bravely tried to steer a moving car after his father fainted behind the wheel. The vehicle eventually came to a stop after colliding with another car and roadside railings.
The incident occurred around 6:20 pm on Jan. 26, when the 47-year-old man was driving west along Shing Sai Road and turning into Sands Street in Kennedy Town. After he lost consciousness, his son, seated in the front passenger seat, grabbed the steering wheel to try to control the car.
The vehicle travelled nearly 100 metres, first hitting another car near Catchick Street before crashing into railings near Rock Hill Road. Damage was reported to the boy’s father’s car as well as the rear of the seven-seater it struck.
Fortunately, no one was injured. The unconscious driver was taken to Queen Mary Hospital for treatment, and the other vehicle’s 66-year-old driver was unharmed. Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
